Rustic Modern Home, Breathtaking Views: Master Gardener Tour
Last week I showed you all the creative upcycled items and salvaged containers in the first house on the Master Gardener Home Tour. Today is a stunning home with breathtaking views.
It’s probably worth noting that where we live there isn’t a ton of elevation changes, that’s part of why this house is so spectacular, it’s hard to believe this is in our town. It feels other worldly!
As you walk up the curving drive you see a gorgeous sleek and modern yet rustic and woodsy house peeking it’s peak from behind layers and layers of juxtapose textures and shade of green. Rock retaining walls look so natural, as if they had been there all along. As they should!
As you meander around the large planting beads you have a surprise with every turn. This landscape is a testament to the fact that your plant palette doesn’t need to be filled with showy bloomers to make an impressive impact.
From here you begin to see the view this home enjoys. As you overlook the pastureland you see horses and a gorgeous barn in the distance. Next you eyes land on the exotic deer the owner breeds laying lazily by the lake.
Past the deer is the first glimpse of the muddy Brazos River running past and hiding behind a small patch of forest only to come out the other side offering another exquisite view from the home. The house sits on an Ox Bow of the Brazos.
The beautiful story is how long the owners have had this land, they have been evolving and improving it since the 70’s and this is actually their second home on the property. I like this story because it makes me hopeful to know while my home looks nothing like this today it’s all about the constant desire to grow and improve what you have…this is proof of endurance and vision.
I could have sat all day and taken in that view but I had baseball games calling my name back to reality. So off I went to have ballpark nachos for dinner for what feels like the 100th time this month, but I cheered on my loves with sweet visions and goals for tomorrow. I am hopeful you have your sights set too friend. If you want to learn more about Gardening or are interested in joining the Master Gardener program, look for the one in your area.
