Mama purged. You guys, I am a crazy woman over here…purging EVERYTHING! I have piles and piles of stuff stacked high for a soon to happen garage sale. I’m going deep, none of that, “I might use this or someday I’ll fit in those jeans.” lies going on over here. Truth and trash, that’s it. BUT….I can’t part with EVERYTHING so you know I had to figure out a way to re-use some treasures. This has been a blast. My first purge to project is from some old shoes!
Obviously I have a thing for flowery flats. First off they are comfy and second, they are cute, am I right? Well these have seen their day, they aren’t that comfy anymore and they are pretty ragged. While I’m all about donating or selling my purge, no one will miss a few pair of shoes. Maybe you have some like this, or an old purse, sweater or other clothing object with some sort of fun accessory on it?
The cool thing about purging your closets into decorating decor is that, believe it or not, you have a style and a color pallet. Your closet and your decor likely go hand in hand, even if they don’t match 100% they are kissing cousins. That means one can accentuate the other! My somewhat neutral home decor colors definitely spill over into my closet. These worn size 6’s went under the knife. I cut off the cute little flower and also salvaged some of the sparkly silver leather for another project I want to work on! Luckily, when you cut down a shoe the parts you want to keep separate from the parts that touched your feet. 🙂 Smell averted.
Next I got another purge product, this frame…it was in my daughter’s nursery. She is almost 13. I have issues.
The pink Burberry was precious but it’s time for it to leave the building, so I painted it a creamy white with chalk paint. SO easy, it literally took 5 minutes and the frame already looks updated.
Next, I got an newspaper and cut out a few flowers (using the same tutorial method as I did for these pattern flowers). This sweet little mix of black and white florals got glued to the updated frame and viola…completely new style! There is a little gem glued to the middle of one of the newspaper flowers for some extra jazz. How easy was that? Now go put on your thinking cap and raid your closet. You have treasures you didn’t even know about hiding in there!
