It’s official. Spring has sprung. How do I know? Well besides the calendar telling me the first day of Spring has come and gone all I had to do was walk outside my house to know for sure. Humor me a minute as I traipse you around my yard and show you all the sign. I promise I have something good for you at the end of it all. It’s a simple project to display a touch of spring with a free printable.
The first sign that gave it away was so incredibly sweet I might burst with excitement. We have a porte-cochere that connects our main house to our guest house. You can drive straight through it. That is where I park. I got out of my car a few days ago and noticed a bunch of long cut grasses and debris on the ground, but didn’t think to much of it. Then I went outside later the next day and almost got ran over by a little bird. Right where I park a huge bank of shelves keeps all our random outdoor paraphernalia organized. Nestled inside one of the cubbies was the beginning of a precious bird nest. I fear that it has been abandoned already though! The birds must have seen me stalking them. You can’t know how badly I want little bitty bird babies at eye level. Look how cozy they would be if they just stayed here. All tucked safely in a soft leather baseball glove. Out of the wind and rain. Come back birdies.
All the fresh green shoots of grass busting through the layer of dead cut away grass always shows the contrast of old and new.
I love the way roses push out new growth. These red tips are the tender new growth coming out for Spring. It’s like they’re on fire. So excited to be showing up.
These soft teensy fledglings will be giant grape leaves on a vine covered in black grapes in no time. Look how delicate and vulnerable they start out.
White flower volunteers litter our lawn. They are actually a weed, but seem too sweet to be an unwanted pest. They will die out soon, cause they can’t take the heat.
Mounds of dead groundcover have blanketed our bed space. We cut back as much as possible, but Wedelia looks rough in the winter. The bright green peeking through the seemingly lifeless debris is a glimpse of the bright sunny flowers to come.
The showstoppers are coming on strong already. Bright pink roses. Vibrant purple Verbena. They are just the start of the parade.
I love the fresh new birth of Spring. Sun finally shining. But not yet in that hot beat down kind of way we get here in Texas in the summer. Birds are chirping and singing none stop. It is fantastic. But how to bring it indoors? I want to decorate for Easter. The boxes are actually down from the attic. Just sitting in the hall. Waiting for me. I just can’t get there yet. Time hasn’t shown it’s face yet for that task. Especially considering I have a certain nine year old that would disown me if I decorated without her. So I brought some simple spring inside another way today.
The web is brimming with free printable art. There are some amazingly talented artist out there. What is even more amazing is their generous hearts. Generous to share their gift with others. For free. I am personally grateful. Two downloads in particular caught my eye. They have just been waiting for a home. Today they got one. I am using a printable I did in the pictures, as to not steal the thunder from other artists. But I will give you a link, because you should head over to their site quick and get some art!
My favorites are on Craftberry Bush and AKA Design. Go visit and let them know you saw them here!
Is this precious or what!? Visit Craftberry Bush to see even more of her exquisite work.
Seriously stunning. Head over to AKA Design and tell her how awesome she is.
I did what I always do and looked around for what I had on hand. I found a clipboard. Just a plain old clipboard. And I painted it. You could paint it any color, bright, white, solid. I chose gold. Then I waxed it a bit and distressed the handle. Now it looks old, goes with my kitchen and makes me happy.
I am planning on propping it up on an old pickle jar I saved. It is a quick and easy way to change out a little piece of artwork for whatever season, holiday or mood is upon us. I cut some fresh clippings for a variety of shrubs in the yard. Who says you always have to have flowers? I like green. Aspidistra, Wax Myrtle, Elaeagnus and juniper made the cut today.
So troll around online and find fun free art for your home. It adds a little sparkle to your Spring!

How precious is that little nest in the baseball glove? A couple of years ago we had a Robin make her nest on our front door wreath. We filmed the entire process and it was one of the most beautiful things our family had experienced. Watching one of God’s beautiful creatures so up close was breathtaking. Thank you so much for sharing and the feature…xoxo
Sweet friend! Your gifts are popping out like the blooms of spring and I am blessed!
I want to craft with you! 🙂 And, then I want to stroll outside and hopefully watch from a far little birdies in that sweet nest! Seeing the bluebonnets and paintbrushes sprouting up has me all kinds of geeked out! My kids are like, “mom, we KNOW! The bluebonnets are out!” 🙂 I just can’t contain my excitement! It’s a beautiful time of year in Texas!
